Homegrown Music Logo

Homegrown Music is WVIA-FM's exclusive series which each week showcases the talents of regional contemporary music artists in recordings produced in the WVIA-FM studios by series host George Graham and is broadcast Tuesdays at 9:00 PM. A special feature during August is an encore of a 2007 live concert by Lipbone Redding on the 22nd. Further information on Homegrown Music may be obtained via the World Wide Web at http://homegrownmusic.info and http://www.wvia.org/radio/local/homegrown-music/

Aug. 1 The Empty Pockets. A first-rate melodic rock and pop band who recently appeared on a new album by Bad Company's Simon Phillips. Their first Homegrown Music appearance from 2015 is featured in this encore.

Aug. 15 Honey King. This trio is a very appealing acoustic incarnation of a normally bluesy and electric band from New Jersey. The acoustic version of Honey King performs a nice set of original music with a distinctly folk-oriented flair, featuring the lead vocals of Julia Knitel, in this encore from 2012.

Aug. 22 A Homegrown Concert Encore with LIPBONE REDDING. During the Homegrown Concert summer hiatus, series producer George Graham presents rebroadcasts of memorable past concerts. Lipbone Redding is a North Carolina native who is a witty singer-songwriter who has does a clever mouth trombone sound that adds to his appeal, which is evident from the 2007 live Homegrown Music concert.

Aug. 29 OTiS. An unfortunately rather short-lived 7 piece funk band with horns that was one of the tightest groups the Homegrown Music has presented. This encore from 2012 features their only Homegrown Music appearance with material that they never got to release before the band broke up.
