Jan. 12 A Homegrown Music Concert with THE DAVID LIEBMAN GROUP. WVIA's unique monthly series of live in-studio concerts features an evening of world class jazz with the Grammy-nominated David Liebman Group doing two sets.

Stroudsburg, PA, saxophonist Liebman got his start in the popular 1970s jazz-rock band Ten Wheel Drive, and went on to be a part of the Miles Davis' seminal band for three years. A remarkably prolific artist with many dozens of recordings to his name in the US and Europe, he is also a composer and author of several books. He returns to Homegrown Music to perform interpretations of the music of the influential jazz artist Ornette Coleman. He will be joined by his regular group with guitarist Vic Juris, bassist Tony Marino and drummer Marko Marcinko.

The two-hour concert will take place before a live audience in the new WVIA Studio Theater. Audience seating is available by free reservation. Phone 570-655-2808, or reserve seats on-line at http://www.wvia.org. Note: Start time: 8:00 PM.

Jan. 13 Gunnar Madsen. This is a memorable session from the Homegrown Music archive from 10 years ago. Gunnar Madsen was a founder of the highly creative a cappella group The Bobs. Since he left the group, he has had a fascinating musical career, doing film scores, several recordings of witty music for children, a collection of instrumental waltzes among others. This 1999 solo performance runs the gamut from the funny to the profound.

Jan. 20 Laura Vecchione. Talented singer-songwriter Laura Vecchione recently released her second CD Girl in the Band. She makes her Homegrown Music debut with an enjoyable collection of new original songs.
